More Cuts at Conde Nast

More Cuts at Conde Nast

Rumour has it that Conde Nast will be making a couple more people appreciate Welfare a bit more. It looks like more employees are expected to be layed off as soon as Si Newhouse returns from holiday, and the magazine Details may have a little less 'detail' in the coming weeks. Now may be a good time to start buying some lotto tickets and crossing some fingers!

Thakoon Panichgul didn’t conceive Thakoon Addition as something sales-friendly for the sucky economy

Thakoon Panichgul didn’t conceive Thakoon Addition as something sales-friendly for the sucky economy

Thakoon Panichgul recently made a comment about his newest line, 'Thakoon Addition', with relation to the current economy. The fashion designer said "I didn’t conceive Thakoon Addition as something sales-friendly for the sucky economy. I’ve been thinking about doing this for at least a year. And my runway collections tend to be pretty accessible anyway. Now, maybe I’ll have a chance to experiment more, but at heart I like to make wearable clothes." Awwwww!

Daisy Lowe’s Marc by Marc Jacobs Ads

Daisy Lowe’s Marc by Marc Jacobs Ads

Daisy Lowe posed for Marc Jacobs' Spring 2009 Marc by Marc Jacobs advertisment, and let's just say, she looks comfortable. The shots were taken by Juergen Teller and show the sexy model draped in a white dress basically trying to look seductive. I don't know if he's trying to sell the clothes or to sell her but, hey, it's fashion!

Editors Cut Back on the Couture Shows

Editors Cut Back on the Couture Shows

It looks like some editors won't be attending a couple of this year's couture shows. One would think that it may be a lack of interest, but i doubt that is the case, after all many a company are trying to save money by cutting back on 'unnecessary spending'. Glamour and Marie Claire won't be sending anyone, and Elle plans on sending their market director. Obviously, Anna Wintour, won't miss a date!

Liz Claiborne CEO Flies Coach

Liz Claiborne CEO Flies Coach

Though it may be considered tacky to some, the CEO of Liz Claiborne Inc., William L. Comb, doesn't mind flying in coach or renting a Volvo to help save the company he's working for a few dollars. In these penny crunching times, the four eyed CEO knows all too well that every nickle and dime counts. Though he does admit that if he used a corporate jet "he would have long ago landed" and been at his hotel, and despite the fact the mild mannered executive travels about 200,000 miles a year on commercial flights, the coach area is where you'll usually find him. I must admit, it pleases me to see at least one CEO being responsible in these 'turbulent' times and not wasting precious funds just to save face.
